8/14 Our last day in Michigan

What a lovely day!  The weather was very warm and perfect for a short walk to the beach.  Both John and I swam for quite some time.  The water in Lake Michigan has warmed up and felt just perfect.  We were definitely refreshed when we got out.

The marina we are staying in is north of the St. Joseph River and the St. Joseph Inlet.  The original lighthouse is about 3/4 of the way out on the north pier.

An auxiliary light stands all the way at the end.

If you look across the inlet, there is downtown St. Joseph.  This sculpture welcomes you as you enter the inlet.
An orchestra was performing at the shell in downtown St. Joseph and we got all the benefits of the music on our side of the inlet too.

Tomorrow, we plan to end the day in Michigan City, Indiana.  I will miss my time in Michigan and will never eat another cherry without thinking of Michigan.
